San Diego

The kids and I went to San Diego this past week to see my brother graduate from Marine boot camp. We arrived late late Wednesday night and came home Saturday evening. We had family day on Thursday where we got to see just glimpses of Billy for the first half of the day. Him running, him standing at attention for an hour, then we got to eat lunch with him and hang out around the base the rest of the day. Most of you know that Billy and I aren't extremely close, but it was nice to see him. To see him grown up. To see him clean and happy and proud of himself. Friday was his graduation. After his graduation he got to leave base. He has a 10 day leave. Billy and I took Xavier, Naia, and his little girl, Kailie, to the San Diego Zoo that afternoon. I went there as a kid when I lived there and remember it. Of course, it was nothing like I remember!, but it was neat to go back there. Saturday we spent flying home. It was a quick, great trip! We're so proud of him! Enjoy the pictures of the trip!

Xavier & Naia in front of the Marine symbol.

Billy on Family Day. He's the one in the very middle. Billy again.

The Galapagos tortoise that I'm sure was there 20 years ago when I lived in San Diego!

Xavier climbing a tree.

A meerkat. Xavier loves watching Meerkat manor on Animal Planet and this was probably his favorite animal to see.

Panda Bears. We've seen them at the Memphis Zoo, but these were way more active! They were eating and running around while we were there! There was a huge line to see them and they didn't let you stay too long, but they were really cool!

I am sure your brother is glad you made the trip and I know your kids will always remember it. I am glad you got to go.

I am really wanting to find an excuse to go to San Diego...just for the zoo.
