We finally did it

I finally got all of Paxton's blood work done for our agency. AND I got him caught up on his shots! What a week it has been.

On Monday we had our second meeting with our social worker. It went well. Only one more meeting before we can start our finalization for Paxton's adoption.

Tuesday we had Paxton's blood work done. Our doctor's office is a "peds" office, so they couldn't get his blood drawn they didn't have a small enough needle. So they sent us to the hospital to get it done. Not a problem necessarily, BUT it took FOREVER. They had to draw blood from both arms to get enough to do all the necessary tests.

Wednesday we had the best day. Paxton and I played all day. Took a good nap. Then went to church last night and played some more.

Today we've gone and had shots. Our doctor's office doesn't do immunizations b/c of the cost, so they send you to the health department. Ours is gross. The floors are dirty, the people are usually pretty rude, and you have to wait forver. Today was not much different, except that the people were pretty friendly. We had an appointment at 9:45 we got there early, and it's a good thing we did b/c since he hadn't been there before and apparently they've never had to transfer a shot record from a foreign country (don't even get me started on that) that it took them forever to build a new folder for him. Finally we got in at 10:15. We had waited an hour. But he was a trooper and he's almost caught up now. Two more shots this year and then he's done until kindergarten!

So that's been our week! Tomorrow we will have grocery day, but that will go by quickly!

Busyness

We have been so busy lately! It seems that every night something else comes up and we are rushing out and about. Just last night at the same time we had karate and kindergarten registration. We live right in the middle of two towns. And sadly both of these were in different towns! It was an hour and a half of driving around and filling out papers then picking up kids.....Crazy night.

Paxton is really starting to warm up to people at our church. Today at a family dinner for a funeral, he just played and played with our Pastor. He actually walked over to him and raised his arms so Bro. Danny would pick him up! It was too cute. And of course Bro. D just loved it! Everyone is so excited that he's coming around! They've all waited and prayed for him to be here and now they're getting to enjoy him!

Here are a few pictures of recent events!

Happy Birthday Paxton!

Saturday was Paxton's first birthday! We had a great party with family and friends. Sorry the pictures aren't great, but Paxton would NOT wear the hat to his hanbok nor would he sit still for good pictures! So we have what we have. During the traditional part of his birthday he wore his turquoise and pink hanbok from his foster mother. He didn't grow near as much as she thought he would, b/c it was huge on him! We lay out several items for him to choose from. Paint brush, books, pencil, rice, a cupcake, notebook, a silver dollar that was my dad's when he was little. We had all the items in the floor in a circle. He walked all around the items, making sure to look at each one, really making us think he knew was he was supposed to be doing. It was so cute. He made a full circle before coming back and choosing the bag of rice! On one thing it said that rice meant wealth and on another it meant health, so we'll take either of those! The next thing he chose was the silver dollar! He was too sweet!

Then we stripped him down and let him have his cake. He didn't eat very much of it! He just picked off some of the icing and then wanted down! He wasn't very interested in opening his presents either! I did most of the work, but we do have some cute pictures of him with the presents!

So sorry it's been so long since I've last posted. There's not really been too much going on here! We did have an awesome revival at church this week. Lots of decisions were made and it was just a great time! Needless to say, it's made for a long week. Monday through Wednesday I don't think we got home before 9:15 any night. Tonight we are just hanging out at home.

I'm sure many of you have heard of the tornado in Mena AR yesterday. My parents were literally caught in the middle of it in their car. They had been in Russellville visiting with us b/c it was my birthday and had just gotten into Mena. They couldn't get shelter fast enough, so they had to take cover in their car. Praise the Lord they came out with just a few minor cuts and bruises. The back windows in the Tahoe blew out from the tornado. It's crazy just looking at pictures from my hometown. The whole downtown area is completely demolished. Prayers for the people of that town would be awesome. Today has been a day of praise, b/c every time I see more pictures of the damage, I just have to stop and thank God that He protected my parents during the storm. My brother was out of town for the day so he was safe. And my (ex) sister in law and neice had some damage to their house but came out safe as well. It's crazy to look at the pictures and wonder how one house could be gone and the one next door to it completely untouched.

Tomorrow we have an Easter egg hunt at church and we're having our neices over to go with us. It should be a ton of fun. The weather is supposed to be nice, so hopefully we'll have a good time.

Happy Easter everyone!
